My Philosophy of Education
My Philosophy of Education covers everything that is important in my classroom I aim to create the best and safest environment for every student in all my classes. I want every student to be engaged and walk away with good memories. Not only do I want my students to be happy, I also want them to rely on routines so they can grow as much as possible.
The Students
Every student is unique with their own talents, experiences and perspectives. My goal is to make an environment that helps students express themselves and their creativity. Art and creativity is a very powerful tool to express yourself and I aim to help foster a safe space that fosters expression and creativity for everyone, no matter what. I will make sure my students feel safe enough to express themselves and they can safely tap into their emotions, experiences, and unique personalities. Art can also transcend social barriers and my goal is to create lessons that honors my students interests and background while having the safest environment, both physically and mentally. Art is also fun and students should look forward to art class! It’s my job to make it stay like that at all times!
Process
Process is just as important, if not more than the final product. Creating something cool is an accomplishment for anyone. While I will highlight that in my classroom, the process to create that cool thing will be even more of a highlight. The art history that inspired the project, the materials and overall art making will be a big part of my curriculum and lessons. This gives students an opportunity to appreciate the process that goes into life, not just art, fostering well-rounded individuals.
Growth
Students should want to grow and be creative, as well as showing growth. Students should show growth both academically and artistically. Art is subjective and while not everyone loves art, students should grow academically throughout their student career in order to be the most well rounded individual possible. Wanting to grow is also very important, growth is not forced and it is so much easier to grow if students want to grow. My goal is to foster an environment where students want to grow their craft. This ties into my goal of fostering a safe environment, for if there is a safe and creative space, students will want to grow as both people and artists.
